Summer Art Camp with Ms. Kladler

Morning Session 9:30am-12:30pm
Art Exploration (Rising 1st to 6th grade) focuses on creativity, exploration, and process-based art for all ages. Students will spend the first 30 minutes of each class working on a self-directed project of their choice. The remainder of the session will include both 2D and 3D projects, such as clay, paper-mâché, drawing, and more.

Lunch 12:30-1:00 Students should pack a lunch from home. Lunch is available only for students who are staying for both sessions or are combining the morning art session with Mr. Avery’s afternoon basketball camp. Weather permitted, we will enjoy lunch outside.

Afternoon Session 1:00pm-4:00pm
Advanced Drawing and Painting (Rising 4th–7th grade) focuses on skill development and traditional techniques. This session is designed for students who regularly practice art at home and are interested in challenging themselves with more advanced work. Students will spend the first 30 minutes of each class working on a self-directed project of their choice. The remainder of the session will focus on learning the principles and elements of art while working with acrylic paint on canvas, watercolor, and a variety of drawing materials.

About Ms. Kladler
Ms. Kladler has been in education for 9 years, and at Kent Gardens for 5. After several summers teaching at camps throughout the area, she has developed a strong understanding of what makes a successful full-day art camp and designed this program specifically to meet the needs of Kent Gardens students.

Ms. Kladler holds a BFA in Drawing and a Master’s degree in Art Education from George Mason University. She specializes in photorealistic drawing and abstract painting.
